Norman Norell (1900-1972) was an American fashion designer, known for his elegant and feminine designs. From his childhood days he had an ambition to become an artist. He studied illustration at the Parsons School of Design in New York in 1919 and fashion design at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn from 1920-1922. His career began when he became a costume designer for Paramount Pictures and a theatrical costume designer on Broadway in the New York City.
