The fashion house of Halston was founded in the 1970s by Roy Halston Frowick. Halston started making hats and altering his mother's and his sister's clothes when he was a child. A short newspaper article about the hats he designed convinced him to eventually open a shop in 1957. He moved to New York the same year and went on to work for several hat designers before he eventually became head milliner for Bergdorf Goodman. His talent was much talked-about and by the early 1960s his creations were worn by Hollywood A-listers Lauren Hutton, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Bianca Jagger, Liza Mine
