Charles Jourdan Charles Jourdan (1883 –1976) was a French fashion designer famous for his designs of women's shoes. He started designing back in 1919 till his death, when he was succeeded by his sons. After being trained as a shoemaker, Jourdan opened a shoe shop in Romans in the Drôme region of France. His business flourished and his shoes became so popular among women that he moved the company into a factory on Boulevard Voltaire in 1921 and employed over 30 people.
