Cadillac is an American house of luxurious cars and vehicles. It was founded by Henry Leland in 1902 in Detroit. Henry Leland was a machinist, inventor, engineer and automotive entrepreneur. He named Cadillac after his ancestor, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, who founded the city of Detroit in 1701. Cadillac family’s coat of arms is the inspiration for the company’s crest. The company was formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company. The first Cadillac automobile was presented at the 1903 New York Automobile Show and sold out after that.
